(Note, when I choose the sample videos, I choose ones that represent the general quality of the videos I captured during the trial searches; that way you can use the sample videos to get a feel for the quality of the videos from your individiual searches when you're deciding to make a purchase.)

Descriptions of All Videos:  Below are descriptions of the searches for each trial that I videoed and click here for sample videos of each individual search I videoed for each trial.
  • Nov 12 NW1 Exterior:  I had full visibility to the hide as well as full zooming capabilities for the entire search. I was shooting via monopod, so there might be a small amount of camera shake/movement on occassion (but nothing much).  I was unable to move, so there's a small chance the handler blocked the dog's alert if the handler stepped between me and the dog when the dog alerted (although this is rare). See link above to sample videos for this specific search.
  • Nov 12 NW1 Containers: There is no video of this search.
  • Nov 12 NW1 Vehicles: I had full visibility to the hide as well as full zooming capabilities for the entire search. I was shooting via monopod, so there might be a small amount of camera shake/movement on occasion (but nothing much). I was unable to move, so there's a small chance the handler blocked the dog's alert if the handler stepped between me and the dog when the dog alerted (although this is rare).  See link above to sample videos for this specific search.
  • Nov 12 NW1 Interior:  There is no video of this search.  NACSW does not permit video to be captured of Interior searches.
  • Nov 13 NW2 Containers: This was a two hide search and I had full visibility to both hides, as well as full zooming capabilities for the entire search.
  • Nov 13 NW2 Vehicles: There was one hide in this search and I had full visibility to it, as well as full zooming capabilities for the entire search.
  • Nov 13 NW2 Exterior: There was one hide in this search and I had full visibility to it, as well as full zooming capabilities for the entire search. I was shooting via tripod, so there is zero camera shake/movement. I was unable to move, so there's a small chance the handler blocked the dog's alert if the handler stepped between me and the dog when the dog alerted (although this is rare). See link above to sample videos for this specific search.
  • Nov 13 NW2 Interior: There is no video of this search.  NACSW does not permit video to be captured of Interior searches.

Additional General Information

  • For each of the searches, the trial CO dictates where I am allowed to stand and I am generally not allowed to move around during any of the searches.  So, be aware that on very rare occassions, the competitor's body or the judge sometimes blocks the dog at the exact moment the dog is indicating on the hide.  This can happen when the camera is either mounted on a tripod to prevent camera shake, or when shooting on a monopod and I am unable to move due to space constraints or the CO instructions. Also, there is also a small chance that your dog has a false indication on a surface that is not visible to the camera and hence his/her indication is not visible to the camera.  Both of these situations are rare, but it is a small risk that this happens during the video of your search and there's really nothing that can be done about it unfortunately.
  • For the vehicle searches, I am generally not permitted to move around, so the competitors are not always visible during the entire search.  So, for example, you and your dog weren't visible if you were searching on the opposite end or opposite side of a vehicle compared to where Colleen was positioned by the CO. Typically she has a clear line of sight to one or more of the hides (read above for more details about your particular trial day, and which hides were visible, and also see the sample videos below for specifics of where she was positioned).
  • Click here to see a few sample videos from all trial days
  • No interior-element searches were captured.  This is a NACSW rule.
  • Colleen's primary camera is a professional grade video camera with the full-format sensor and the videos are 1920 x 1080 pixels (HD quality) so they can be blown up and watched on a large screen TV. This camera also has professional grade wide angle and telephoto lenses with zoom capabilities so she is able to capture all the action, including zooming in during the search, for capturing even the most subtle body language and communication from the dog.
  • Colleen also has a secondary camera that is a wide-angle stationary camera; this camera has no zooming capabilities and typically no sound. The format of these videos is 1280 x 720 which is also HD quality and can be blown up and watched on a large screen TV as well.
  • Video from these 2 trials will no longer be available for sale after December 31st 2016 and all copies will be discarded after that date.  This is because of space constraints.  I capture high resolution videos, which require a lot of memory.  Since digital storage space is not free and it fills up quickly, I must discard videos and photos that are over a few months old in order to free up space for my next photography or video assignment.  If you purchase your videos, be certain to download them and make sure you can find them on your computer.  I will not be able to help you once I delete the videos from my computer, website, and backup drive.  If you don't buy and save a copy, they will be gone forever.
  • Trial video is only permitted to be sold to the competitor (handler) that the video was taken of.  This is a NACSW rule.  If a dog that you own was handled by someone else in the trial (and who isn't a co-owner of the dog), then you may purchase the video of your dog only if I receive written permission from the handler that (s)he is OK with me selling that particuar video to you. Again, this is a NACSW rule.
  • I am only permitted to post a few sample videos for public viewing from each trial day, and only with that particular competitor's consent.  This is a NACSW rule.
  • You may purchase videos of your dog at any time - just follow the below instructions.  :-)

To Purchase Videos:  please read the following details and purchasing instructions before making your purchase

  1. PRICES: you may purchase either a Personal Use License or Commercial Use License for the videos captured at the trials.
    • Personal Use Licenses for trial videos are $20 per search (see next bullet below for description). There are discounts for purchasing multiple searches.  The more videos you purchase the deeper the discount: 5% discount for 2 searches ($38); 8% for 3 searches ($55); 10% for 4 searches ($72); 15% for 5 searches ($85); 20% for 6 searches ($96). If you ran two of your dogs (one each day) for example, then you may purchase all of the videos for both of your dogs, following this discount schedule.
    • Commercial Use Licenses for trial videos are an additional $10 charge on top of the $20 personal use license for each video (total of $30 for both licenses for each video). See next two bullets below for examples of when you need to purchase a Commercial Use license. A similar discount schedule would be applied if you wanted to purchase commercial use licenses, in addition to personal use licenses, for multiple videos.  The more videos you purchase, the deeper the discount: 5% discount for 2 searches ($57); 8% for 3 searches ($83); 10% for 4 searches ($108); 15% for 5 searches ($128); 20% for 6 searches ($144). Contact Colleen directly with any additional questions/concerns.
  2. COMMERCIAL USE LICENSES: a commercial use license must be purchased if you'd like to use the video for commercial purposes. In other words, if you'd like to use the videos for any use that's intended to sell a product, animal, service or make any money, then that requires the purchase of a commercial use license which is a small fee in addition to the personal use license. A FEW examples (but not an exhaustive list) where Commercial Use Licenses are required include
    • If you're a breeder - posting to your breeder FB page, or posting to your breeder webpage or breeder blog; or posting to your breed club webpage or registery, etc, requires the purchase of a commercial use license.
    • If you're a dog trainer, behavior consultant, or a Nose Work instructor - posting to your training business FB page; or posting to your business webpage; or posting to a group FB page where the intention is to showcase your teaching/handling skills; or posting to any other public site where the intention is to drum up attendance in one of your training classes or for your training products or services; or using it in any sort of educational or advertising capacity; or posting it to your YouTube site and then linking that to your business webpage or business FB page; or uploading your video to a digital frame and displaying in a public location in order to promote your training classes to potential clients, etc. -> all of these uses are examples that require the purchase of a commercial use license.
    • A Personal Use license is automatically included when purchasing a Commercial Use license
    • Commercial Use Licenses are an additional $10 charge on top of the $20 personal use license for each video (total of $30 for both licenses for each video). A discount schedule is offered when purchasing multiple videos.  The more videos you purchase, the deeper the discount.
    • A Commercial Use license can be added on at a later time if you're not certain  you want it at the time of your initial purchase.  If you've already purchased a Personal Use license and now want to add on a Commercial Use License, click here.
  3. PERSONAL USE LICENSES: A personal use license should be purchased if you are not planning on using the video for monetary gain and it allows you to share the video on your personal FB page or personal YouTube site, for example. This license is NON-TRANSFERRABLE - meaning, you can't forward the video to your trainer or breeder so that (s)he can display it on his/her webpage.  However, if this is something you'd like to do, please contact Colleen directly at colleenmgriffith@gmail.com to discuss.
  4. SAMPLE VIDEOS: If you'd like to wait for some sample videos to be posted before you decide if you'd like to purchase the videos of your searches, it usually takes Colleen no longer than 2 weeks after a trial to post a few sample videos from each day of the trial (but typically they're posted within a few days of the trial completion). She always posts at least one sample video from each search she videoed for each trial day.  Click on the links below to see a few sample videos from each day of the trial:
  5. PREVIEWING COMPETITOR VIDEOS: It's a NACSW rule preventing me from posting trial videos in any public way, with the exception of one or two sample videos per search videoed, per trial.  Because of that, all competitor videos must be uploaded into individual personal galleries (one gallery per person) which must be private and password protected. It is exceptionally exceptionally labor intensive to create individual galleries, password protect them, upload individual videos to individual galleries and then email each person their unique individual password to access their one video in their individual gallery. For two days of trials, that could be over 75 individual galleries!  So, because of this huge time sink, Colleen will only create private and password-protected galleries for each competitor (and find and upload their individual videos), only AFTER payment is received.  Hence, previewing video(s) of you and your dog before paying for them just isn't feasible (unless I greatly raise rates, which I don't want to do).  So, when I chose the sample videos, I chose the ones that represent the general quality of the videos I captured during the trial searches, so you can get a feel for the quality of your videos. Please also see my comments directly below under Section 6. Ensuring Quality.  For those who are accustomed to previewing NW trial photos, I know purchasing video in this way may be a paradigm shift and I'm sorry if this different paradigm makes you too uncomfortable to make a purchase.  For what it's worth, this practice of buying video sight-unseen is common practice in many other dog sports, like agility for example (and they generally don't even get to see sample videos before making a purchase).
  6. ENSURING QUALITY: I generally like to ensure the quality of my videos is excellent, so I will discount if there is a meaningful quality issue (for example, the camera's automatic focusing algorithm "hiccups" and signigicantly loses focus during the entire time your dog indicates on the hide - this is rare, but has happened once or twice).  I can generally catch these issues prior to your purchase, and discount appropriately (or give for free if the quality issue is bad enough), but if I manage to miss a significant quality issue with your video, please let me know and I will refund you a discounted amount commenserate with the severity of the quality issue. Be certain to review all the sample videos that are posted for each element videoed so you know where the videographer is positioned - this will give you an excellent idea of how your video will turn out.  Also be certain to read all the details in the sections Description Of All Videos (click here) and Additional General Information (click here) so you understand the camera set up (i.e.,  mounted on a tripod and unable to move, shooting by hand, zooming capabilities or not, etc) and other pertinent information for each search where you're considering making a purchase.
  7. REFUND POLICY: once I upload your videos to a gallery and send you an email with the gallery password, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED unless there is a technical glitch or malfunction with my equipment that I managed to miss and that causes a significant quality issue, or if I missed some other significant quality issue, or if I happened to upload the wrong video.  You are responsible for reading and understanding all the information contained on this page before submitting your payment.  Email Colleen at colleenmgriffith@gmail.com if you have any questions that aren't answered on this page before submitting your payment.
    • For example, I will happily provide a refund in situations where an equipment malfunction prevents me from recording a large portion of your search.
    • If you changed your mind about purchasing a particular video and or made a mistake regarding the specific videos you intended to order, there is no refund once I send the email containing the password to your gallery.
  8. DOWNLOADING COMPATIBILITY: you will need a desktop or laptop comuter (both a PC or a Mac will work) to download the video(s).  I believe the videos will download onto most android phones; however, I can not guarantee it will download onto an iPhone or onto an iPad. If you prefer a hard copy of your video be mailed to you via the US Post Office, then you will be responsible for shipping and handling charges as well (see bullet point number 5 in the section "Instructions for Purchasing."
  9. WATERMARKS: No watermarks (i.e., the text "Copyright 2016 Colleen Griffith..." etc) will be included in any videos you purchase from Colleen.
  10. EDITING SERVICES: All purchased videos are un-edited and straight out of the camera.  If you'd like me to edit your video for you for some reason, my fees are $85/hour or $15 per each 10 minute increment of time spent editing.  Contact Colleen directly for an estimate if you'd like to utilize this service.
    Instructions for Purchasing:
    1. Read through the video descriptions at the top of this page (click here) to undertand which elements Colleen videoed and which she did not.  She is NEVER able to video all 4 searches in a trial.
    2. If you decide to purchase video(s) of your dog(s) at the trial, send an email to Colleen Griffith at colleenmgriffith@gmail.com to let her know which searches you'd like to purchase.  Please send her the following information:
      1. which license you will be purchasing: a Commercial Use or a Personal Use license (click on links for definitions of each)
      2. your name
      3. your dog's name
      4. your dog's breed
      5. the date you and your dog searched,
      6. the specific element videos you'd like to purchase (i.e., Container, Vehicle, Exterior). Note: interior element searches are never videoed (this is a NACSW rule). Also, it's not always possible to video all 3 of the other searches due to logistics, so check at the top of this page (click here for the video descriptions) to see which specific searches Colleen was able to video.
      7. your run-order number (if you can remember it; don't worry if you can't)
    3. Submit payment by selecting the appropriate option from the drop down menu in one of the PayPal buttons below.  If you'd prefer to pay by check, include that information in your email to Colleen and she will send you instructions on where to send the check.
      • The 1st PayPal button is for purchasing video that will be used for Personal Use only
      • The 2nd PayPal button should be used if you're planning on using your video for Commercial Use purposes. Read the details posted above in "Section 6. COMMERCIAL USE LICENSES" for more information on when a commercial use license is needed. Also, when you purchase a Commercial Use License, a Personal Use license is automatically included.
      • Be certain to read the Refund Policy stated above before finalizing your purchase.
    4. Once Colleen receives payment for the videos you'd like to purchase, she'll post the videos to her Box.com site and send you an email with a password and a link so you can view and then download them.
      • Once payment is received, it will likely take a day or two for Colleen to post the videos to her site and send you the email with your password and link to the videos you purchased.
      • Be sure to read the Refund Policy stated above before finalizing your purchase.
      • If you send your payment via check (instead of using the PayPal buttons), it could take as long as a week for you to receive the email with instructions for downloading the video you purchased.
    5. If you prefer to have the videos mailed to you via US Post Office instead of an email download, then you will be responsible for paying for packaging, shipping, and handling which is an additional $10 charge on top of the video fees listed below.  The video(s) will be loaded onto a Thumbdrive and mailed in bubble-wrap packaging.  To pay for shipping and handling, you'll need to either make a separate payment via PayPal (click here to pay the S&H fee) in addition to your video fees or mail a check to Colleen (email her at colleenmgriffith@gmail.com to get the mailing address) that includes the cost of the S&H fees in addition to the video-download fees.  Keep in mind it'll likely take one to two weeks for you to receive the video(s) you purchased when having them mailed via the US Post Office.
